This painting is one of the few that I have been able to finish entirely in the field. After a short day of hiking to get to Summit Lake, we continued up onto a summit above the lake. This allowed for a magical view of Tahoma (Mt. Rainier). It was impossible to paint anything else. This piece was definitely a challenge for me as I usually like to focus on rocks or something closer to me with a mountain as a part of the composition rather than the defining element of the composition. The result was a playful study at sunset.
