I started this piece after my very first glacier climb up Ruth Mountain. Making it up to this point was a big deal for me because I actually enjoyed the walk up the glacier rather the fear that I had anticipated at the start. There was so much information in this literal 360° view but the thing I chose to focus on was the vertical presence of Mt. Shuksan. It was so compositionally powerful in any sketch I started that I gave in and let it take over the page. I painted through the rain, through mosquitoes, and through sunset for this one and it was worth it.
